Steps to Success: Practice Makes Perfect (Part I)

“Spesso diamo per scontate le cose che più meritano la nostra gratitudine.”

- Cynthia Ozick

This week we continue the “Steps to Success” series with a special focus on practice: what it means, what it looks like, and how you can use practice to improve your English. As we’ve already seen, passion and patience are also important pieces of the puzzle - but practice is what brings everything together and makes your mastery complete.

Practice is so important that I have decided to divide this topic into two parts - Part I is included here and Part II will be in the next post.

In order to help you to understand how practice can become fully integrated in your daily life - not just in your English studies but in every area - I want to ask you some questions:

What are you grateful for? What are your thankful for in your life?

What things, people or places are special to you?

Sometimes our lives become so busy that we forget to notice the gifts we receive every day: food, a home to live in, friends and family, favorite pets and fun activities. These are just a few examples - I am sure you can add many more!

In preparation for Part II, take some time to answer these questions in a notebook or journal. Are you curious to know why gratitude is important for practice? Good! For now, keep thinking of everything we have learned about passion, patience, and the first steps for practice: in Part II we will put all the pieces together!
